“I’ve always admired those people who could dance well. Before Soul2sole I had no previous dance experience and Latin dancing, more specifically salsa, was something that I’ve always wanted to learn. Dance has been my outlet to de-stress, burn some calories, connect with people, and provide new challenges. My motivations have not changed much over the years. I’m always working to be a better dancer but now I also work towards becoming a better teacher and mentor as well. My advice. Don’t get frustrated with not getting something right away. Try to learn and internalize it. Practice it. Apply it.”
Since childhood Natalia has always been intrigue by the elegance and beauty of dance. In 2006, she participated in a fitness program where Latin music was introduced to her. It was love at sight. Being a member of Soul2Sole’s Student Assistant Program and the Choreography team in Mississauga, Natalia dedicates much of her time dancing and giving back to others. Her message to the students she mentors is to practice with purpose, never beat up on yourself and regardless of how you may be feeling, always smile.
“As a way to try and meet new people, I tried salsa classes several years ago and was hooked from the start. For me dance has allowed me to break out of my shell and push myself to try something I never thought I could do! With no background in dance whatsoever, salsa and bachata have quickly become my passion. I hope to be able to show other students you don’t need to have experience dancing – you just need to try and if you love it, keep going…enjoy the feeling of happiness and freedom you get from dancing!!”

Starting at a very young age, Maia waited just 4 years before she started dancing. She began performing in front of a wide audience (of 3) till her parents realized that if they didn’t sign her up for classes, she’d run away by the age of 7. After dodging her life as a runaway, she went on to study and perform various styles of dance from tap, ballet, jazz and hip-hop. It was in 2004 that Maia fell in love with Salsa and Ballroom and has been dancing with multiple partners ever since. Her love of motivating others and being the center of attention led her to begin her career as a dance teacher in 2009. Since then, she has been giving her heart and soul to teaching and showing every person there’s a hidden dancer in each of them. Maia joined Soul2Soul in 2013 and sums up her experiences as: Adorable at times yet still sexy with a great sense of humour. She also specializes in wedding dances, special events, MC’ing, eating and losing things.

“Having grown up around Arabic music, I wanted to experience something new. I thought of salsa and the different dimensions and expressions that it presented. Although common in the joy that both styles bring, Salsa motivates me in both the artistic and technical realms. It is inspiring to see others around me grow and equally inspiring to see myself develop and move forward. Soul2Sole presents a fun, supportive and dynamic environment. It’s a great place to make lasting friendships, stay on top of the salsa scene, and feel safe enough to take a chance on yourself. Stepping outside of my comfort zone is something that I am proud of every day.”
